As parents we always want to ensure we are providing our children with the right nutrition and energy for their day. A perfect way of helping your kids feel motivated about healthy choices is by providing creative alternatives to the usual sandwich and apple in their Zak Containers. Of course, we are all busy so it doesn’t have to be everyday but here are some suggestions to mix up your children’s lunch boxes.
Go round with the main lunch item. Think mini sushi, mini wraps and rice paper rolls. Kids love anything they can really get their hands on and mini is the way to go! Sushi, wraps and rice paper rolls are perfect for school lunches as they can add lots of colour and excitement.
Rather than a singular piece of fruit, throw in some variety through a small fruit salad or even with fruit skewers. Adding in lots of different flavours means children will want to try each piece, encouraging them to eat the whole lot!
Often neglected in a school lunch, but vegetables like strips of capsicum, celery & carrot make some great dipping sticks. Think about a smashed avocado for the kids to dip. They’ll love the crunch.
Lastly, don’t forget a treat. Pretzels, popcorn, muffins and cookies are loved by all and perfect additions to any lunchbox as a quick treat for the kids! Looking for some more creative food ideas? Take a look at our blog for weekend breakfasts.
